The new volume of the „Fundberichte aus Österreich“ (“Find reports from Austria”) strikingly reflects the changes taking place in archaeological heritage management in Austria today. The report section of the journal has been considerably expanded and is now divided by federal region, each part in turn separating excavation reports and finds news. The articles section has been reduced in size, but again includes several interesting contributions. Alongside the Annual Archaeological Heritage Report 2010, an extensive Late Neolithic complex in Lower Austria’s Mostviertel is presented in full and articles deal with remarkable highlights from rescue excavations in Lower Austria, Styria, and Tyrol. A further contribution builds on new results from the archaeological survey in Carinthia. Last but not least, a specialized view of archaeological wood and timber finds is offered by the contributions in the section “Expert discussion on wet wood conservation”.
