Summary
Kolanowska M. & Szlachetko D. L. 2015. Notes on the taxonomic position of the genus Cohniella (Orchidaceae-Epidendroideae-Oncidiinae) with description of four new species. – Phyton (Horn, Austria) 56 (1): 15–26, with 6 figures.

The taxonomic position of the orchid genus Cohniella (17 species from Mexico to Argentina) is discussed and the comparative morphology of the fife genera of the Trichocentrum-clade is presented in a table. Four new species of Cohniella from Colombia, Guyana, and Panama, respectively, are described and illustrated: C. allenii Kolan. & Szlach. (characterized by a complex callus consisting of a basal, canaliculate reniform thickening and three short, ligulate ridges extending to the isthmus base), C. christensoniana Kolan. & Szlach. (with an entire middle lobe of the lip and a callus consisting of a basal pair of conical appendages with a narrowly elliptic projection and a pair of curved linear ridges near the labellum margin), C. croatii Kolan. & Szlach. (with a distinctive callus consisting of two “V”-shaped appendices at the lip base), C. yuroraensis Kolan. & Szlach. (characterized by long-clawed lateral sepals and 3-lobate lip callus). The taxonomic affinities of the novelties within the genus are discussed.
