Stemonaria liaoningensis, collected from Liaoning Province in China, is described as a new species. It is characterized by a capillitium with thicker and darker basal branches and successive thinner branches and by spores of about 7–10 µm in diam. ornamented with rows of warts forming an irregular net with many elongate meshes. A key to all recognized species of is presented.
